Angling Advice: Fishing Friendly Campsites

Fishing and camping: two great activities that go hand in hand. What’s better than going for a fishing trip and then camping over with the family? It’s the best way to appreciate the outdoors and spend some quality time with your nearest and dearest.

We here at Fishing Republic are saying a big hello to tents, camping chairs and many other accessories that will make a camping trip complete. It will be your one stop shop, where you buy your sleeping bag, as well as your new bait collection.

To welcome in our new range, we have put together a guide to the best destinations that are camping and fishing friendly. Spend your nights cooking on the BBQ, and spend your days on the shore reeling in your next best catch.

Bala in North Wales

The lovely Bala of North Wales is well known for its outstanding lake. You’ll find people swimming, out on kayaks, and most importantly, fishing. You can find Perch, Roach, Pike, Trout, Grayling and Eels, to name a few.

The Glanllyn Caravan and Camping Park boasts a generously sized site, situated right by the lake. It’s the perfect spot to pitch a tent with unbelievable access to the lake. Simply walk to the end of the campsite, and the lake is your oyster. Although, we doubt you’ll find one of those in there.

Winter Predator Fishing

Port Isaac in Cornwall

The beautiful blue waters of Cornwall are just a stone’s throw away when you stay at Tipi Holidays and Camping in Port Isaac. Families or groups can book their own tipi and area, and then head down to the Tregildrans Quarry Lake.

You will find the water to be clear blue, or different shades of green, an everchanging pool, much like in the Amazon. People will be taking a dip, soaking up the sun, relaxing on a kayak, or fishing for Rainbow Trout. It’s the perfect place to escape reality with your family.

Winter Predator Fishing

Brighton

Sticking to the South, we have the Chalky Downs campsite in East Sussex, Brighton. Located within reach of some beautiful beaches, and close by to the hustle and bustle of the seaside city, this is a perfect holiday for sea anglers, wanting to entertain their family.

Tents and campervans are welcome at this campsite, which is located at a breath-taking spot, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A seaside city and the great outdoors, what more could you ask for on a family getaway?

Winter Predator Fishing

South Wales, Tenby

More sea fishing now, as we move over to South Wales. Becks Bay Campsite is located right in the middle of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, only 100m away from the famous coastal path. This makes it ideal for a walk down to the shore, to skim some rocks, get your tan on, and then, catch some fish.

Waterproof Predator Fishing

Lake District, Cumbria

The lake district is, of course, full of amazing lakes, fantastic for fishing, and even better for a non-forgettable camping trip. At Browfoot Farm, in Cumbria, there are a number of of family friendly pods, some even welcoming dogs. This place is ideal for those who would rather face a fancier version of camping. Situated near the River Kent, it’s a wonderful destination for families wanting to be able to stroll down to the water. Perfect for a paddle, and even better for catching Salmon.

Hoodie Joggers Predator Fishing

Scotland, Cairngorms

We couldn’t miss out Scotland. There are some ideal spots for fishing way up North, and of course, it’s got the most fantastic camping spots.

Glenmore campsite is in the heart of the Cairngorms, so you can just imagine how breath taking the views are. Cairngorms is also home to two amazing rivers: The Spey and The Findhorn. They are ideal for fly anglers, especially the River Spey, the longest and fastest flowing river in the land of Scots, as they are full of Salmon.
