Daiwa Prorex Reels

Baitcasting reels represent ‘the next level’ for most anglers, providing advantages over the spinning reels that many start out using, particularly in control and accuracy when casting. The spool of a baitcaster rotates during the cast, which means that the angler requires a level of greater skill gained from lots of experience using it if they are to avoid endless tangles. Once this type of reel is mastered, however, a baitcasting angler will be able to drop a lure wherever they desire it to be. Even bad casts can be avoided when using a baitcaster because the lure can be rapidly stopped to avoid snags before they happen.

Developed by Daiwa for pursuing big pike and other predators with large lures, the Prorex XR 300 baitcaster is powerful in several ways. It has a high-capacity 37mm spool that’s suitable for thick lines, allowing you to be ready for the big ones, whenever they bite. Its light but strong aluminium body houses and protects the large drive gear without distortion to provide high retrieving power when you need it. The conveniently adjustable Magforce magnetic drag system also provides consistent and reliable casting security at whatever level you need it to be, when you need it. The drag pressure is adjusted by a smooth aluminium star drag that has a click system for consistent setting.

Six sets of corrosion-resistant ball bearings are the basis of this reel’s silky-smooth action and their construction means it can be used without worry in salt- and freshwater environments. The balls are made from specially-treated stainless steel and are rated to last up to twelve times longer than in standard bearings. They sit in effectively sealed casings to prevent the ingress of sand, grit, salt, and other damaging elements.

An infinite anti-reverse system is included, giving you zero backplay and thereby increasing the chances of turning a bite or tap into a hook on the first attempt. It has a 100mm handle that’s equipped with rounded RCS EVA grips for comfort and ease over longer sessions and is furnished with attractive purple aluminium flanges.

This Daiwa Prorex XR Baitcaster Reel is available in both left- (PXXR300HLA) and right-handed (PXXR300HA) variants.
